Yann Sommer Leaves Bayern Munich for Inter Milan.

Yann Sommer has left Bayern Munich to join Inter Milan on a two-year deal with the option of an additional year. The 34-year-old Swiss goalkeeper joined Bayern in January 2023 after Manuel Neuer suffered a serious leg injury. He made 25 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, helping them to win the Bundesliga title.

Sommer’s decision to leave Bayern was motivated by his desire to be the number one goalkeeper. He was not guaranteed that role at Bayern, as Neuer is expected to return to full fitness next season. Inter Milan, on the other hand, were looking for a new goalkeeper after Andre Onana joined Manchester United.

Sommer is a highly experienced goalkeeper who has played in the Bundesliga for over 10 years. He has also been a regular for the Swiss national team, making over 80 appearances. He is expected to be a key player for Inter Milan as they look to challenge for the Serie A title and the Champions League.

In a statement, Sommer said: “I am very happy to join Inter Milan. It is a great club with a lot of history and ambition. I am looking forward to working with the manager and the players and helping the team achieve its goals.”

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta said: “We are delighted to welcome Yann Sommer to Inter. He is a top goalkeeper who will bring us experience and quality. We are confident that he will be a key player for us in the years to come.”

Sommer’s departure from Bayern is a blow to the club, as he was a reliable and consistent performer. However, it is understandable that he wanted to be the number one goalkeeper, and Inter Milan were able to offer him that opportunity.

Sommer is a good signing for Inter Milan, and he will be an important part of their team for the next few years.
